Support Groups for Caregivers — Somerset
These support groups are designed specifically for caregivers. There are many other support groups designed for people living with a specific disability or chronic illness. Search online, or reach out to your local hospital and medical network for help in locating disability and disease-specific support groups in your area.
African American Support Group for Families of Loved Ones with Mental Illness: Somerset For caregivers of individuals with mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder; panic/anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder). Meets 3rd Thursday of the month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 771 Somerset Street, Somerset. Information: 732.940.0991
Alzheimer’s Support Group: Bridgewater Meets twice a month. First Monday from 1pm – 2pm and/or second Wednesday, from 7:30 pm – 9pm. Located at Bridgewater United Methodist Church, 651 County Club Road, Bridgewater. Information: Call Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 helpline: 800-272-3900
Alzheimer’s Support Group or Related Disorders: Bridgewater For residents of Somerset County whose loved ones reside in Somerset County, as well as Richard Hall clients. Meets 3rd Monday of the month from 4:30pm – 5:30pm at Richard Hall Community Mental Health Center of Somerset County, 500 N. Bridge Street, Bridgewater. Caregiver Support Group: Bridgewater Meets the following dates in 2018: April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August (no meeting), September 15, October 13, November 17, December 8, at Adult Day Center of Somerset County, at 872 East Main St., Bridgewater. Opens at 9:00am with option for light breakfast. At 10:00am the group starts as well as activities for your loved one. Mental Illness Caregiver Support (MICS): Basking Ridge Provides support for those dealing with the unique stresses of caring for others with mental illness. Faith will be discussed and encouraged as a means of helping caregivers through their struggles.
