These support groups are designed specifically for caregivers. There are many other support groups designed for people living with a specific disability or chronic illness. Search online, or reach out to your local hospital and medical network for help in locating disability and disease-specific support groups in your area.

Care at Home New Jersey Care at Home New Jersey is a nonprofit organization that provides resources to support those who are homebound, their families, and caregivers. They assist in connecting patients with others, and to services such as housing, in-home care, medical services, and/or food and transportation. Information: click here
Care2Caregivers: Helpline for Caregivers of Persons with Dementia For caregivers of those with dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease or related disorder, through University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), with the NJ Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services. Mom 2 Mom Helpline Program For mothers caring for children with special needs. Clinicians and peer supporters (moms with special needs children trained in peer counseling and crisis support) provide telephone support, explain resources, and explore your needs. VA NJ Health Care System Caregiver Support Group: Lyons Caring for the Caregiver: Telephone & Face to Face Support Group For caregivers of veterans of all eras. Meets 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at the Lyons Campus, 151 Knollcroft Road, Lyons. In addition, the group can be accessed via telephone call in. Information: 908.647.0180, x4003
Family Support Organization of New Jersey For caregivers of children with emotional and behavioral problems. Family Support Organizations (FSO’s) are family-run, county-based organizations that provide direct family-to-family peer support, education, advocacy and other services.
